Trains instructor candidates to teach American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Lifeguard Blended Learning, Shallow Water Lifeguarding, Waterpark Skills, and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Provider. Instructor candidates develop their understanding of how to use course materials, conduct training sessions, and evaluate participants’ progress. Note: To teach Waterfront Skills, Lifeguarding instructors must possess a basic-level Waterfront Skills certificate
You will be required to provide proof of lifeguard certification prior to enrollment confirmation. This is a skills session as part of a blended learning. You must complete an online portion prior to this date. You will receive instructions on how to complete the online portion after registering. Successful completion of prerequisites is also required including: swimming, lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR/PR skills.
Prerequisites
- Demonstrate complete competency in CPR/AED for lifeguards, First-Aid and all Lifeguarding in-water rescue skills
- Must be 17 years old by the end of the course; proof of age will be required on the first day.
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid certification
Certification
Must attend all class sessions (no exceptions), complete all practice teaching sessions, and pass written and practical exams with at least an 80%. Lifeguard Instructor valid for 2 years.
Price
Includes the certification fee and electronic manual access. Adult & Pediatric rescue mask sets or seal easy masks are required and can be purchased for $15 prior to class.
